Things Every Home Really Needs: Three Additions For Your Home

Building Trends of 2013

In buying your first home, you probably were not able to afford to get the home of your dreams, or a home that had every feature that you wanted.  Now that you have lived in the home for a while, you should take the time to begin adding the features that you want and transform your starter house into the home that you always envisioned.  There are three important additions that you can make to the home that will help to remake your home and make your home conform to your ideal.

Patio

One of the easiest things that you can add to your home is a small patio.  This is a place where you can have people over to your home, gathering together to share some laughs and to have a good time.  A patio is a place for barbecues and someplace where the distractions of things like the television are eliminated.  There is no reason to go overboard with the construction of your porch; most of them can be built with a simple concrete slab and maybe a little covering.  You will want to have some outdoor furniture to go with the patio, but a patio will start to make a difference in the way that you and others see your home.

Dining Area

Along with a patio, you should consider redesigning or remodeling the home to include a dining area of some sort.  The dining area is a place, either formal or casual, where you and your family or your guests can come together and share a meal.  A separate dining area may not seem like a big deal at first, but it becomes more and more important as your and your children grow older.  A dining area is clear of distractions and it creates a relaxed atmosphere for everyone to enjoy each other’s company.  The dining area does not need to be very large or very fancy, but even a simple place to eat will change the way that you approach meals and entertaining.  Once you have a dining area established, make sure that you use the dining area for all of your family meals.

Shed

Finally, you will eventually find that you do not have enough room in your home to do all of the things that you want to do.  You may have had more children than you have rooms, or you might find that you have a hobby that needs some extra space.  With a shed you will be able to make an addition to your home without having to spend a fortune to do so.  Modern sheds are easy to customize for whatever purpose that you have in mind, and they are much more affordable than having construction done to your home.  Because of the design of these sheds, they can be made to match the exterior of the home, so that the shed looks like it was intended as part of the original design of the home.

When you make changes to your home, you can change the home from a starter home into a home that you can be really proud of.  The changes do not need to happen all at once, and the changes can be very affordable, as well as useful.

I am Janice Morton, and I have been a homeowner for just over three years.  My husband and I were not able to afford a large home, but we have slowly been able to make changes to the home to make it more inviting and more reflective of who we are.  One of the best additions was the sheds Lancaster PA based Glick Woodworks (www.glicksheds.com) sold us.  I was able to make it into an art studio and I have never been happier.  I highly recommend their sheds to anyone who wants to make an addition to their home.
